Dr. Melisa Potocki - DMD
DMD
I chose a career in oral healthcare because I grew up surrounded by it. My mom, Kristine, worked in a dental office, and I spent quite a bit of time in the dental chair as a kid myself. When I was 12, I broke two of my front teeth at school. The care and compassion I received from my dental team—and the life-changing impact of their work—deeply influenced my decision to pursue this field.
As a pediatric dentist, I love getting to know each child and their unique personality. Kids say the funniest, smartest, and most heartwarming things, and it’s a joy to be a part of their world. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping a child feel confident and proud of their smile, while also teaching them how to maintain their dental health for life. My goal is to make going to the dentist something they look forward to!
I encourage parents to be involved in their child’s dental care both at home and during appointments. My team and I share the same values—safety, compassion, and teamwork—and we know that dental care isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we take the time to listen and collaborate with families to create personalized treatment and prevention plans. We work hard to maintain a fun, welcoming, and energetic environment to support our patients and help them thrive.

Outside the Office
I’m originally from Canada, but now live in Jackson, Michigan, with my husband, Dr. Brian, and our daughters Ewa, Emilia, and Eleanora. We share our home with our dog Brady, a registered therapy dog who also works alongside us at the office.
I look forward to spending time outdoors with my family—we love swimming, biking, hiking, and skiing. I also enjoy reading daily, staying active, and am passionate about supporting maternal mental health.
In addition to clinical work, I enjoy teaching and giving presentations to schools, community groups, and other professionals.
Personal Statement
We find that many adults are afraid of going to the dentist because of an experience they had as a child. My goal is to stop that cycle and to help create patients who not only have healthy mouths, but who enjoy going to the dentist. Safety is always my top priority, and providing a positive experience is a very close second.
